Yeiyá ("walking" in Wixárica, an ethnic group from Mexico) is a journal of critical studies on social sciences focusing on the most pressing problems and challenges in the world, and in particular in Latin America. The Journal is launched at the end of 2020, a year of enormous uncertainty by the pandemic that in an unprecedented way presents itself with a multidimensional civilizational crisis evident since the seventies of the previous century, which was also deepened with the great economic recession of 2007-2010. The global impacts on health, economic, growing social inequality and greater ecocide in the face of an accentuated process of concentration of wealth in financial, IT, health and military corporations force to promote an in-depth debate on new proposals of social organization, of different development strategies with human security, well-being and environmental sustainability as central priorities. This implies, among other tasks, defining the return of the State to the forefront of health and economic policies throughout the world as the only strategy to face the impacts and build a way out of the double pandemic, it becomes a transition towards the construction of post-development scenarios that eradicate exploitation, inequality, the depredation of nature and the annihilation of the different expressions of life.
