This manuscript delineates a scholarly exploration of the historiographical frameworks pertaining to the economic systems established in Brazil post-European colonization, commencing in the 16th century. This examination serves as a foundational perspective for comprehending the burgeoning interest in Numismatics, both as a valuable historical resource and as a focal point of academic inquiry. Conclusively, the article offers an interpretative analysis of the commemorative coins minted by the Brazilian government to mark various anniversaries of Brazil's Independence. This analysis aims to elucidate the ideological appropriation of these numismatic artifacts by the socioeconomic elites, who concurrently wield political authority.
