The book highlights the various factors that have influenced mobility in Latin America. Neoliberal globalization is considered the main cause of large human displacements. In Latin American countries, with the implementation of neoliberal policies, income redistribution has failed: the rich are getting richer and richer, and the poor are getting poorer. Consequently, migration to the United States has become a survival strategy, given the lack of job opportunities, poverty, climate change, the hoarding of natural resources (by power groups), insecurity, the different forms of violence experienced in the countries of origin: gender-based, criminal, gang, economic, symbolic, among others of a structural nature.
