Abstract

In this article I make a proposal for interpretation and historical analysis of the trajectory of Ecuador in the 20th century, framing it in the corresponding Latin American conditions to base the explanation. He highlighted several historical moments of this process, from the perspective of the economic policies that were followed and, in addition, highlighted its essential characteristics. I focus on the topic to get to the immediate history, in order to understand the Ecuadorian progressivism of our days and its open confrontation with the business-neoliberal economic model. I present the topic as a synthesis and guide, which allows orienting research on Latin America and Ecuador. It should not be considered as a chronological scheme and necessarily the same in all countries, but as a way of approaching the interpretation of the present based on a series of historical processes from the past.
