This article collects information on three historical moments in Ecuador's housing policies. The first corresponds to direct intervention, the second to the subsidiary housing model, when the IDB promotes housing programs in countries of the region, and the third when the progressive government increases investment in social housing and finances directly housing projects. It is in this last moment that the reflection focuses on the materialization of the housing policies that promoted “Buen Vivir”, managed to satisfy the right to housing and to the city, which were so promoted at the time.
