El Model of the relationship between sense of place and urban heritage: A theoretical-conceptual proposal

Abstract

Urban planning, especially in Latin America, has evidently moved away from comprehensive territorial planning policies in favor of strategic intervention projects. Therefore, before recon figuring places, it is necessary to recognize the complex role they play for the city as a whole. Tothisend, this paper proposes the model of there lation ship between sense of place and urban heritage, where the following five essential categories are determined: 1) place dependence, 2) place attachment, 3) place identity, 4) politics of place, and 5) built environment together with its environmental opportunity. In this way, it is intended to provide a comprehensive approach that informs the link age that people establish with their environment, there in forcement of which ultimately makes an ordinary place unique or heritage.
