Abstract

This special issue is dedicated to the 1st Metahuman Futures Forum held in Lesvos on 1-2 October 2022, as part of the Bodynet-Khorós project co-funded by the European Union[1] and contains part of the theoretical research of the project. The issue comprises a collection of seven papers, a book review, and the Metahuman Futures Manifesto, all of which contribute to the understanding of metahumanism and its relationship with posthumanism and transhumanism in the age of planetary holocaust.

Çağdaş Dedeoğlu, Yorkville University

Çağdaş Dedeoğlu, PhD (he/him) is the founder of The Posthuman Lab and founding co-editor of the Journal of Posthumanism. Currently, he works as an Associate Faculty at Yorkville University's General Studies Program. He is also a researcher at the University of Toronto's STREET Lab. Prior to this, he worked as an assistant professor of political science in Istanbul, Turkey, as well as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Florida.

His other affiliations include Ontario Tech University’s Digital Life Institute (AI Implications Cluster), Brock University’s Posthumanism Research Institute, and the US-based Center for Critical Research on Religion. He has been involved with grassroots ecological movements, as well as research organizations including the Political Ecology Network, the International Society for the Study of Religion, Nature and Culture, and the International Research Network for the Study of Science & Belief in Society.

His current research focuses on posthuman politics, ethics, and technology, with a particular emphasis on ecological security. More information about his research and publications can be found on his website.
