Call for Papers: Istanbul Policy Review 2nd Issue
We invite submissions for the 2nd issue of the Istanbul Policy Review, focusing on the critical reflection of the role history and narratives about the past play in current geopolitical dynamics.
We welcome a broad range of contributions, from shorter interventions (1,500-2,500 words) and review essays to slightly longer (4,000 words) research papers.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Deconstruction of historical narratives and myths
- The role of religious institutions in legitimizing political policies
- Nationalism and its relation to regional identities
- Discussions on historical path dependencies and analogies relating to geopolitical conflicts
- The discourse of humiliation in international relations
- Confronting realist theories with historical perspectives
- Historicizing abuses: war crimes, missed opportunities, 'broken promises'
Review essays of recent works on global history and foreign relations, as well as biographies of key political figures
Fact-checking interventions that discuss promises made regarding international alliances and memberships
Any other topics that fall within the scope of this call for contributions
