Abstract

As a tool in the integration processes of young Syrian refugees living in Izmir, the study aimed to determine cinema follow-up trends and cinema follow-up platforms and to determine the factors affecting the relevant orientations. The relationship of young Syrian refugees in Turkey with cinema and migration cinema and their assessments on the subject were discussed within the framework of 19 semi-structured interviews conducted in October and November 2019. The fact that the participating group consists of young people at different socio-economic, ethnic and educational levels was a factor that strengthened the ability to make comparisons between participants. In this context, socio-economic factors, education level, language proficiency, gender, cultural elements, past traumas and levels of personal interest have come to the fore as determining factors in the unequal relations of participants with cinema and migration cinema.
