Abstract

This study was designed to investigate the possible reasons of discrimination (migration background, religious belief, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability) perceived by immigrants of Turkish origin living in Germany during the last ten years. We evaluated in which areas and how often discrimination was perceived. The data was obtained through a structured questionnaire from 159 Turkish immigrants living in Germany. The findings demonstrated that discrimination was mostly perceived in the areas of apartment seeking, looking for a job, during work at the labor market and in the field of education, respectively. Besides, the results showed that immigrant identities and religious beliefs are seen as main causes of discrimination experienced by Turkish immigrants living in Germany.
