Call for Papers: Special Issue on Inequalities and Social Exclusion of Gypsy Minorities
Gypsies represent the most significant ethnic minority group exposed to severe discrimination, social exclusion, and poverty across the world. High levels of exclusion in housing, education, employment and health hinder their access to social and political rights inherent to European citizenship. Despite the measures and strategies developed by international institutions and governments, there is still a long way to achieve equality and social inclusion. The situation of this ethnic minority group is not homogeneous within Europe and beyond. However, certain common elements can be observed in the living conditions and exclusion processes in different countries. We are interested in studies focusing on Europe and across the world.
This special issue seeks articles addressing social exclusion dynamics and factors embedded in this process. We particularly invite contributions covering the following areas but not restricted to:
- Housing and space
- Health and wellbeing
- Access to social services
- Discrimination and exclusion
Selected papers must be original, unpublished works which are not also under review elsewhere for publication. The manuscripts will be subject to a double-blind peer review and published in December 2022 issue of the Journal of Gypsy Studies.
Please follow the author guidelines and use a consistent referencing style in your papers.
The special issue will be Open Access.
Submission deadline: 1 September 2022
